The Dixie Oven Towel is a beautiful addition to your kitchen. It has three knit patterns in the towel that are made up of combinations of knit and purl stitches and easy enough for a beginning knitter to accomplish. The pattern can be found here.
While making these towels for my own kitchen, I used a new and fun stitch/row counter. They are available at Amazon in the link here. They fit on a finger and can be used by pressing a large silver button to advance the number of rows finished. I liked this counter because of it's ease of use; it only takes one finger to advance as opposed to the twist counters that require both hands. This way, I didn't need to put my knitting down to keep count of my rows. They come in a package of four and are a nice price compared to some of the larger knitting companies that sell one per package.
The same pattern can be used to make dish cloths to wash dishes, also. I cast on 20 fewer stitches to make the dish cloth. Cast on 44 for dishcloth and 64 for oven towel.
Here is a list of yarns with links for where you can purchase them.
Sugar and Cream at Amazon
Hobbii has a nice collection of bamboo/cotton yarns. They also have other beautiful yarns. Check this site out.
Terra Yarns This is the brown towel featured in the picture at the beginning of the video. It is stiff when working up, but once it is washed, it is soft and drapes beautifully.
Buttons I used from Amazon. You can use any button you like. These are wooden and are a size 40 mm.
